If you live in Chicago you sure wouldn’t know that Fall is just around the corner…95 degrees and humid in September? But we all know the crisp cool air of autumn will be here before you know it, so it is time to discuss one of my favorite topics: Wedding Food for the Fall!
During cocktail hour consider treating your guests to sparkling cider or appletini’s.
The thought of having soup in 90 degree weather is strange, but believe me on a cool autumn night I really enjoy a hot bowl of silky butternut squash or pumpkin soup…and your guests will too! If you are a salad lover, think about using pumpkin seeds, toasted pecans or sliced apples as a topping instead of boring croutons.
What about the main course? If you are going for a “Fall Comfort Food” theme, think chicken pot pie, beef wellington or even a gourmet macaroni and cheese.
If you love dessert as much as I do, Fall has the best options! From warm apple cider doughnuts with dipping sauces to gooey caramel apples or warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream…the possibilities are endless. And instead of a standard coffee station, let your guests enjoy warm apple cider with cinnamon stick garnish or gourmet pumpkin spice coffee.
A quick thank you to The Knot for inspiring me with this topic!
