You all know how much I love sweets. I am always looking for new wedding dessert ideas for my brides and grooms who also share a sweet tooth like me. Don’t get me wrong, I love cupcakes, ice cream, cannoli and many other traditional sweet table desserts, but I have recently found some new dessert trends and would like to share them with you.
The donut craze continues! We are not talking about powdered sugar, plain or cinnamon dusted. Today’s donuts are gourmet in the best way possible. Unique flavors, fillings and glazes created by top chefs are continuing to soar. Glazed and Infused in Chicago is one of my favorite gourmet donut shops and yes…they do weddings! Red Velvet, Maple Bacon, Lemon Coconut, Creme Brûlée and Peanut Butter and Jelly are just a few of their creative flavors. Imagine your guests enjoying a donut and coffee at your wedding instead of the same old boring sweet table.
It seems like “bite size” is in whether it be cake pops, truffles or mini cupcakes. I recently found some photos on Pinterest of “Pie Pops” mini-pies on sticks that are portable and easy to eat at a wedding. They look adorable and I bet they taste just as delicious!
If you love sugar, you might want to think about having a made to order cotton candy station at your wedding. Spin-Spun Confections makes gourmet cotton candy using all natural ingredients and awesome flavor combinations like salted caramel, coconut and lemongrass just to name a few. I have tried their product many times and it is light, delicious and fun! Takes you back to when you were a child and makes you smile!
If you love sweets, but also want to put a healthy spin on your dessert, than a Frozen Yogurt Station may be perfect for your wedding. you can contact your favorite yogurt shop and invite all of your guests for a healthy dessert option. Add some yummy toppings like chocolate chips, caramel, toffee or whatever your hearts desire to make it a more interactive experience for your guests to enjoy.
Are you planning to have a unique dessert item at your wedding? If so I would love to hear about it. Until then, enjoy the sweet life!
