For those who know me you are well aware of my obsession with everything sweet! So imagine how excited I was to see one of our former Something 2 Dance 2 brides selling delicious treats at the Geneva French Market on Sunday. Her display was filled with homemade breads, scones, turtle brownies, cookies, and she even has a made to order waffle station! YUM!
So I thought it would be fun to ask Molly some questions about her company A Playful Palate & her love for baking.
How did you get into the baking business?: Our business began in august 2008, at the Brookfield Farmers Market. Since then we have grown to several additional markets, our shared retail space (From Scratch Marketplace in La Grange), and of course loves of catered events. One of my favorite parts of the business is testing and creating new things.
Where can we find your delicious treats? My bars (brownies, turtle, berry crumble, birthday, etc.) are always available at From Scratch Marketplace in La Grange. My full line of baked goods (quick breads, scones, muffins, cookies, belgian waffles, and more) are available at the farmer’s markets we attend. Currently our schedule brings us to the Brookfield Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings & the Geneva French Market Sunday mornings.
What is your favorite item to bake? I personally love the push-ups. They are fun to eat, taste great, and bring back a bit of childhood nostalgia in an entertaining new form.
Any favorite baking shows? I’m a big fan of Martha Stewart, although I’m not sure she’s on anymore. I really did learn a lot from her and she continues to be an inspiration.
If you could only bake one cupcake flair, what would it be? I love a classic yellow cake with my mixed berry butter cream topped with fresh berries. Yum!
That does sound delicious Molly…I will see you next Sunday at the Geneva French Market!!!
