Northwestern University Dance Marathon
The Northwestern University Dance Marathon (DM) is the largest student-run philanthropic event in the country. From September to March, thousands of students volunteer their time and energy to raise money for charity. These year long efforts culminate in one spectacular weekend where hundreds of students dance for 30 straight hours while thousands of visitors from all across Chicagoland and beyond cheer them on.
For 21 years, Jay Sims was the sole DJ for all 30 hours, in charge of keeping 1200 college students dancing! Jay got his start during his Senior year at Northwestern University in 1997. In 2016, Jay became the only member of the 600 hour club. Jay retired from Dance Marathon in 2017.
